Cox's Bazar Report Section

The Cox's Bazar Rohingya refugee settlement, including the Kutupalong camp, is the largest refugee camp in the world. Its residents are predominantly Rohingya Muslims who fled persecution, violence, and displacement in Myanmar. Once registered in the camps, refugees face significant movement restrictions and generally require authorization from Bangladeshi authorities to travel outside the camp boundaries.

Our foundation is committed to supporting Rohingya children, students, and teachers by providing essential educational supplies, technology equipment, and power banks. We have also been a critical source of assistance during emergencies, including devastating fires and seasonal floods, supplying families with vital items such as water tanks, temporary shelters, bedding, and food.

Cox's Bazar Rohingya Refugee Crisis: Key Facts
  • Approximately 50% of children suffer from malnutrition.
  • More than 14,200 children experience acute malnutrition.
  • Around 12% of refugees live with disabilities.
  • By early 2026, approximately 1.2 million Rohingya refugees were living in the Cox's Bazar camps.
  • Most shelters are constructed from bamboo and tarpaulin, making them highly vulnerable to fires, floods, cyclones, and landslides during the monsoon season.
  • Refugees rely heavily on humanitarian assistance. Funding shortages during 2025–2026 resulted in reduced food rations and essential services, with many families surviving on approximately $10 per person per month.
  • Formal employment opportunities are extremely limited due to the Rohingya population's stateless legal status.
  • Access to education remains restricted, particularly for teenagers and those seeking secondary or higher-level learning opportunities.
Challenges Facing the Camps

The refugee camps continue to face serious social and security challenges, including:

  • Human trafficking networks
  • Gang-related violence
  • Kidnappings
  • Drug smuggling and organized crime

Despite these hardships, the resilience of the Rohingya community remains remarkable. Continued humanitarian support is essential to provide safety, education, healthcare, and opportunities for a more secure future.
