In Uganda, we partnered with Spring of Smiles Ministry to support orphaned and vulnerable children to address some of the daily challenges faced living without adequate parental care.
As part of our support, we provided Education Kits, toys, and monthly food assistance to more than 65 children living at the center. These contributions help meet critical needs such as access to learning materials, nutrition, recreation, and emotional well-being. By supporting both their educational and personal development, the initiative seeks to empower children with the confidence and opportunities needed to build a better future.
Uganda continues to face a significant crisis involving Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC). Current estimates indicate that nearly 7.5 million vulnerable children require social or economic support, while approximately 2.9 to 3 million children have lost one or both parents. Orphans account for nearly 13% of all children under the age of 18 in Uganda, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable community support programs and child-focused interventions.
Spring of Smiles Ministry is a nonprofit organization founded in 2013 that serves vulnerable children, orphans, street children, HIV/AIDS patients, and underserved communities across Uganda and parts of East Africa. The ministry is committed to restoring hope, dignity, and opportunity through faith-based outreach programs, education support, healthcare assistance, feeding programs, and community empowerment initiatives. Their work continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families facing hardship, offering care, compassion, and a renewed sense of hope to those most in need.
